Let’s start with a pretty boring description of what an entrepreneur is and then we can get on to the decent stuff and delve in to the psyche of what makes the most successful entrepreneurs:

“An entrepreneur is a person who has control and ownership over a new company, enterprise, project or venture, and assumes responsibility for the any risks and the outcome.”

The word sounds French and infact it is a loan word originally defined by Richard Cantillon who was an Irish economist.

Theres hundreds of books, programmes and media coverage about some of the world’s most famous entrepreneurs such as Richard Branson, Sir Alan Sugar, Donald Trump and Bill Gates. Some of these individuals are amongst the world’s richest individuals and most respected in the business world, but what is it that makes them different?

Risk is a key theme in any entrepreneurial activity whether it is investment or reputation that is on the line, everyday entrepreneur’s takes risks to make capital gains and grow their business projects.

Closely attached to the risk that is calculated by entrepreneur is the end goal or objective that they are attempting to achieve. The sense of achievement, whether it be financial or personal is another common goal that fuels an entrepreneurs activity.
